I’ve shot at Bletchingley Church a lot. In fact it was where I shot one of my first ever weddings. It is enormous. And the massive windows lend themselves to some fantastic wedding photos with the light pouring through into the much darker church.
Jenny & Guy managed to put their entire wedding together in only 6 months and it didn’t show in the slightest. I would have assumed that this one had been a full year at least in the making such was the production value! Jenny is Will’s sister (Will’s wedding I shot just over a year before) and Will and his wife Sarah were now expecting. It was great to see them both a year on and outside of the chaos of their wedding day. I create a good bond with the clients I shoot (which makes for much better photos) and it’s always a sad moment waving goodbye to them the night of the wedding, so it’s great to see them again and have a moment to catch up on what the first year of wedded bliss has brought them.
Jenny & Guy were spending their entire wedding in the Nutfield Priory where I have shot countless times already, but never in the winter. While it certainly was colder the shots still came out looking fantastic. It’s hard to take a bad photo at Nutfield.
The bonus of shooting in the winter is that it gets dark a lot sooner. Most of the time as I approach the end of my shooting day the sky still has a slight glow and everyone is a little worse for wear, meaning I never get to play around with sparklers. This wedding was different. Before the first dance and band had even started the sky was as black as ink and the sparklers came out in force.
How did the guys at Nutfield light them all so quickly? A blow torch… of course.
